Scholarships are one way that DDF helps up and coming musicians and artists. DDF continues to sponsor musicians and artists through scholarships at Bucks County Community College. Details & How to Apply

The DDF Foundation has established two (2) Music Awards and one (1) Art Award in memory of the late Danny DeGennaro. “Rio” as he was affectionately called, was a gifted guitarist and songwriter who entertained crowds in Bucks County and toured nationally until his untimely death in 2011.

ANNUAL MUSIC AWARD - $500

The DDF Music Award is open to Bucks County Community College students who are passionate about music. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits and majoring in a program in one of the College’s six academic departments. Applicants must audition to be chosen by performing one solo of the 100+ songs written by the late Danny DeGennaro. Students do not have to be music majors to apply and audition. ANNUAL ART AWARD - $500

The DDF Art Award is open to applicants that are enrolled or intend to enroll in a minimum of six (6) credits and major in one of the following programs in the College’s Department of the Arts: Cinema Video Production, Fine Arts, Fine Woodworking, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or Photography. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation and answer required essay questions. There is no minimum GPA requirement; however, applicants are encouraged to provide a sample artistic work in any medium, preferably one that highlights the Danny DeGennaro statute found on the grounds of Bucks County Community College in Newtown,Pa.

Award recipients will have their name engraved on a plaque in the Music & Multimedia Center and will be receive mentoring opportunities. To learn more about Danny DeGennaro and his work visit the sculpture of Danny DeGennaro on the college grounds in Newtown, Pa. in front of the Music and Multimedia Center. By reading the plague and listening to his songs using your smartphone, you will be able to learn more about his work. The sculpture was donated by the DDF Foundation and created by Nilda Maria Comas.
2017 DDF Scholarship Music Award recipient Katelyn Cryan She resides in Yardley and is a 2016 graduate of 21st Century Cyber Charter School, Downingtown, PA. She is studying music at Bucks County Community College and is interested in playing bass guitar and singing.

2017 DDF Scholarship Art Award recipient Avery White Avery resides in Bensalem, PA and is a 2016 graduate of Bucks County Technical High School, Fairless Hills, PA. He is studying Cinematography & Video Production at Bucks County Community College and is interested in furthering his cinematic career at New York University.

She is a member of the Army Reserves and is studying Communications at Bucks County Community College. Her interests are in Film and Multimedia communications.

2015 DDF Scholarship Music Award recipient Jeremiah Snyder Jeremiah is from Pipersville, Pa. and a 2011 graduate of Central Bucks East High School. He studied jazz guitar and classical voice at Bucks County Community College. His interests are in music therapy and production.
